Unwanted is one thing..
Crippled is another thing..
Untrainable is another thing..
Old is another thing...
They all have different solutions...
Some more easily solved than others..

there are adoption agencies that can find people who want back yard pets or there are horse sancuaries where horses can be put in a pasture (and given some light care) and left to live their life with other horsey friends. If the horse is old or just unwanted, they can go to therepudic riding centers or become lesson horses. There are also some odd specialized places where horses can go, I heard about a place that accepts healthy horses (but can be unsound) and they draw blood from the horses periodically to be used for blood transfusions for other horses after accedents and surguries.

Heres what you do. You find a retired person who wants a pet horse to ...uh....pet and then you give it to them.
But if the horse is in pain put him down.
