help with a jewelry brand name?

I recently bought a new necklace, and the letters ''OR'' are inscribed on the clasp with a trademark (tm) next to it. I'd like to know what the make is, any ideas?

Take it back to where you bought it, ask the seller what it means. You can also take it to a jeweler. They could help you to find the meaning. It could be that it is the maker's hallmark. Meaning that it is the stamp of the jeweler who made the necklace.

If there is no other stamp on it, then it's probably not a fine metal. The stamp will tell you how pure the metal is, gold and silver are soft metals so a pure gold or silver piece can bend and dent too easily for wear.

Gold will have a karat stamp, 10K, 14K, 18K, 24K, etc... Sometimes the K is KT, but it is always there. If it was made internationally, you may see a number instead of a K. 24 karat gold is pure gold, so 18 karat is 18/24 or 0.750 karat. The stamp may read .75 or .750.

Silver has a number, usually 925, to indicate the percentage of pure silver in the jewelery. If you see another number like 825, it's a lower silver content.

Platinum is usually stamped with an abbreviation. Plat or PT since jewelery is usually 95% pure platinum. You may also see 95 or 950 to indicate this. Other stamps: 900 PT to indicate percentage of pure platinum, 10 Irid PT to indicate that it is 10% iridium the metal used with platinum, and 90% pure platinum.

If you don't see a numerical marking or a karat stamp, then sorry to say, it's fake. Hope you didn't pay too much for it!

OR is also the french word for gold, which may be the meaning for the stamp.
