Everybody is, but everybody else is entitled to respond.

But the reality is, no it wouldn't be lovely. Everybody would have to develop a pretty damn thick skin and a level of tolerance that would make Ghandi look twice.

You're entitled to your own opinion, how you voice or action that is really the issue. On top of that, I doubt that most opinions today are either original or biased by the media.

Yeah it really would....my family all speak their mind....like today for example: my brother was annoyed because there is a boy at school, and whenever he sees my brother he goes "hello Tom Strange" and says his full name. (yes my surname is Strange)...
anyway, so mum's boyfriend's son - Mike, said "next time he does it, pick him up to your eye level by his neck, slam him against the wall and say 'the next time you do that it'll be the last thing you do.'" So, I, being me, couldn't stand around and let that happen, let him say things like that, let my brother do something like that, so i went "that's appalling! i think that's disgusting!" because i really think it is. I'm astounded that someone would do that. But that's not the point, on the way home from mum's boyfriend's house, my mum had a go at me, because i'd been "nasty" to her boyfriend's son, and she said i should "sit there, smile and nod" if he says something like that. But it's not in my nature to do that, if i don't like something, especially like that, i'll say i don't - she really doesn't know me very well. Well, if he's entitled to his own opinion, and allowed to voice it, why aren't i?

You ARE entitled to your opinion, but when you express it, people are entitled to agree or disagree with it. If you don't like people disagreeing with you, keep your opinions to yourself. I'm not saying this in a mean way; it is just the way it is. People nowdays don't tend to respect the opinion of others.

It seem anymore that you can have your own opinion, you just aren't allowed to express it out loud or in public. If you opinion isn't politically correct or enjoyed by the main stream public, then you get a labeled according to your opinion. Mel Gibson got himself labeled racist, anti-semetic, and a couple of more for his drunken expression.

It's amazing how your First Amendment freedom of speech can get yanked from under you feet for speaking your mind.

Everyone's got opinions but some are far better considered than others and, as lots of people don't occupy such a high moral standpoint, people in glass houses shouldn't always throw stones,

You are entitled to your opinion, but there are a lot of occasions when it would be dangerous to express them.

It would be so lovely, but it will never happen. People who have their own opinion are often times looked down upon.
