IF your mother worked, and then she planned and purchased the life insurance -- as soon as her Pension was notified of her death, then you will be notified.

Most of the time, if she was a housewife, then the chances of there being life insurance policies was pretty much nil.

For working women -- and those who definitely planned for their future, or for a single parent who must work (because there is an Abuser/Deadbeat parent), then yes, she may have some life insurance that she was paying for through her employment.

Also -- was she involved in any community service/organizations? Usually as a part of their membership fees, there can be some small life insurance policies -- like $1,000 of insurance with a membership. So if you know she DID have memberships in organizations -- call them and inform them of her death -- and they will also be able to tell you if there is any life insurance on those memberships.

THIS is a chore for your Mother's Executor of her Will -- and I hope she wrote one out -- because it is the RESPONSIBLE Thing to do.
