Call the state licensing department. Start with them or the city where you live. Call some of the licensing departments in the city offices.

if he is a licensed handyman he will have anumber to prove it and you just call the city licensing division to make sure its authentic. Otherwise call the Better Business Bureau to see if he has any complaints against him or his work
