Yes, Native Americans had it pretty bad for a couple hundred years. Recently, I have met several that reside on reservations today that get a check from the government for more than $8,000 a month in peparations for what happened to their ancestors over 150 years ago. When do tax-payers dollars start going to the Firefighters, Policemen, Hospitals and Schools instead of this? Are we going to be "repairing" this forever?

I AM ALMOST POSITIVE THAT YOU WERE MISINFORMED. THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT HAND OUT CHECKS TO NATIVES FOR NOTHING. IF A TRIBE HAS A CASINO AND IT DOES WELL, THE TRIBE GIVES BACK TO IT'S PEOPLE;BUT USUALLY NOT UNTIL THE ENTIRETY OF THE TRIBE IS TAKEN CARE OF.
NATIVE NATIONS ARE NOT ALL ABOUT WHO HAS MOST MONEY, WE ARE ABOUT SEEING THAT EVERYONE IS HEALTHY, FED, AND NOT DEPENDENT ON THE GOVERNMENT.
IF YOU DO A LITTLE RESEARCH, YOU WILL FIND THAT MOST TRIBES, LIKE MINE, ARE MORE FOR THE WELL BEING OF IT'S PEOPLE, EDUCATION AND ELDERLY ARE OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY.
MY TRIBE DOES NOT STAND FOR ANYONE JUST LOOKING FOR A HANDOUT. YOU HAVE TO BE MAKING AN EFFORT TO BETTER YOURSELF, EDUCATION AND ECONOMICALLY WISE.
AS OF TODAY BUSH HAS TAKEN AWAY NUMEROUS GRANTS THAT FACILITATED OUR ELDERS HOME HEALTH CARE, FOOD ASSISTANCE AND OTHER CARE ASSISTANCE, SUCH AS DURAFLAME LOGS, HOME REPAIR ETC.
OUR ELDERS GREW UP WITH NOTHING, THEY WERE DIRECTLY EFFECTED BY THE "INDIAN DOWNSIZE"...THEY FOUGHT TO KEEP FOOD ON THE TABLE AND CLOTHES ON THEIR CHILDREN'S BACKS...THEY SEEN FIRST HAND HOW THE CAUCASIAN RACE LABELED INDIGENOUS AS BEING OF A "LOWER CLASS"
MY TRIBE HAD IT'S OWN SMALL MILL OPERATION...THE WHITES TOOK IT AWAY AND BANNED MY PEOPLE FROM COMING WITHIN 50 FEET OF THIS TRIBALLY STARTED ENTERPRISE. KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS HAPPENED WITHIN THE LAST 50-60 YEARS NOT HUNDREDS OF YEARS LIKE EVERYONE IMPLIES...

great question , hopefully that 8,000 is for an entire tribe and not an individual family . if they pay taxes on casino revenue it would probably even out wth the reparations though , i can't imagine how much all native american casinos make

we should not be paying them anything.. we purchased this land from France.. they did not give us a clean bill of sale.. I agree this is a stupid thing we keep getting a bill for.. Do the native americans have any written history to fall back on? I dont think so. They depend on the white mans history books to see what they did. All they have is hear-say from their 'elders'.
