I would walk fast, not run, making an exit as directly and as quickly as possible.
I would probably not turn to look over my shoulder at what was going on and I would definitely not look back and gawk.
You have one chance to get away from any riot - that is if you leave immediately. If you squander that chance, you will regret it.
Just by being there, you are by some means participating, if you remain with the crowd after the riot breaks out.
You make the cops life harder when they try to restore peace and order. They have to deal with everyone, not just people who are "have bad thoughts inside".
If you stay, you are more work for them. So make their life/day easier, and leave peaceably the minute trouble breaks out and starts to spread.
I was at a home once when the police came to the door and complained about the music being too loud. The person playing it did not lower the volume; she just ignored the police's instruction.
An hour later they returned, and a lot of people got beaten up. I left as soon as the police returned, the moment one of them announced the party was over.
People that did not hear or ignored that instruction truly regretted it. Even the police did, a little - I think.

Well if I was there with people I love their lives would come before my own so I'd find them and get them to safety before calling the police.
