Depends on where you live. I live in florida and we do it ourselves with help from our local pool store it costs about $30.00 per month plus electric for the pump. up North where freezing is invoved and there are opening and closing costs it cost us 600.00 to open 600.00 to close.

I do all the work myself and my pool is 16' X 32'. Including power to run the pump and chemicals I budget $1,200 a year.

the cost and time involved in maintaining a swimming pool or even a hot tub can be a deal breaker unless you are really going to use it.
