V for Vendetta, would great for a project. Its current so it will keep interest. The plot is semi-complex (at least more than most action movies out today) Either V or the Portman's character would great for analysis (I would pick V) The theme and setting are dark, futuristic and alternate from our reality. But for sure there are some parallels with the storyline and social setting that draw comparing to our current political atmosphere and daily life, so that could be examined briefly in your paper. I Hope you do well on you paper. It sounds like fun!

Other good movies for paper-

Hunt for Red October
Count of Monte Cristo
Blade Runner
Alien
O Brother, Where Art Thou?

(The best movies I think would be the ones who have a complete environment and universe in which the movie takes place, these movies defiantly put you in the middle of it.)

I would say "Barry Gordy's Last Dragon," but I remember one even better. I remember 10th grade, my World Literature teacher came in and said, "I am about to introduce to you the GREATEST piece of American Literature." She then turned out the lights and I heard the music. Star Wars is the best, we started with Episode 4: A New Hope. She stopped the movie every 5 seconds pointing out archtypal characters, motives, and crap like that. I hated Star Wars until she enlightend me. Now I can't look at any movie or read any book without finding the "universal meaning, helping man find the greater good blah blah blah." If you decide to tackle this, let me know, I still have my packet.
