we bought a house from my husband's brother. it is in his naem now with no contract, all the payments we've made on it are showing that it rent reciepts not payments, now his mother is getting a loan to pay his brother off. how will i know where i stand in this sticky situation or if i've even got life time rights?? my husband drives a truck and i keep everything up here..am i walking in the dark???

Problem from here looks to be that you haven't really "bought" the house. There is no legal document that says it's yours or you are buying it, right? In that case, if anything goes wrong (someone changes their mind or gets upset with you and/or your husband), you and your husband are out as you have no "color of title" which means ownership. And, of course, you have nothing if your husband dies and the brother doesn't want to let you have the house. You need to get the arrangement written and signed by the principals.
Generally, BTW, the wife inherits the husband's assets if he dies.

if the house is not in his or your name you have no rights to the property nor does he its like you said you showing payments as renters not homeowners, but if your already worring about that it makes it sound like your not to sure about your relationship with your spouse

you didn;t buy anything .... no deed, no sale .. you are renting with option to buy
