I would contact an ER room with this info and/or the dr who did the surgery.

Actually this is quite common after surgery. I have been operated on 5 times, and all 5 times they opened my stomache.
!st off do not lay down, its like air in water, you have to tip the bottle so that the air can escape through an opening.
Sit upward and she may burp a bit to eliminate a bit. Or Sleep on her tummy with a pillow or two under her hips to lift her bottom in the air allow gas to pass. Its actually more painful to allow the air to surface to your chest and burp, you can almost feel like your having a heart attack if the air gets trapped in your chest cavity.
Usually gas med over the county do not help this type of gas pain.
Only time will help, and burping and flatulence.............
I am sorry for your mom, it is very very painful I know.

A simple massage therapy technique may help her. If she were to rub her stomach in a clock-wise direction, with her ribs at 6 and hips at 12, it helps to stimulate the intestines, which is where gas is most often kept. Have her do the massage lightly, as pushing too hard does not make it work better. If that does not work, good ol Beano should have your mom fiesty in no time.

try baking soda and water one teas spoon per half a short glass. tastes like salt water but it naturalizes the acid and gas about as fast as you drink it. It will get rid of heart burn too.
