Does anyone know the method the US forestry industry uses to harvest trees?

They mark a certain number of trees with ribbons when clearing forrests and then logging companies come in and hack them down.

The method is lumber lobbyists.


I believe the Bush Administration is harvesting as many as they can for big business. They claim it is good because it is logging to reduce forest fires.

The justification is to reduce forest fires. Yes, there has been an increase in fires, but most have been from humans. Many times lighting is cited as a "natural" cause. However, a forest fire is a forest fire no matter how you cut it.
