You will need a video capture card. This takes the video output from your VCR and converts them to mpg, avi or other files. I used one named Dazzle DVC. but remember, the quality of your video will depend on the quality of the video tape and VCR, not the capture card. you will need a high ram high processor PC to do this properly. but i can suggest a shortcut, there are some professionals who converts VHS to vcd or dvd, try to find one of them, that will be a lot cheaper if you don't have to convert 100s of video tapes and the best thing, they knows how to do it properly.
