i play both sports and as i found out football is the most dangerous sport as career threatening injuries happen all the time and one wrong tackle could spell the end for someone Else's career or even worse your own. where as injuries sustained in hockey are very isolated and rare if one does occur then it is usually down to the playing surface. The most freak accident that's every happened to me or my friends whilst playing hockey is when someone hit the ball and it flicked up and knocked my friend unconscious. In Football players like to gain revenge on oppositions because they got injured e.g. When Roy Keane admitted he purposely made a horrific tackle on Alfie Hinga Harland which ended his career all because Roy Keane missed a cup final because of an injury which occurred in a Manchester derby. You may think your safe playing football but believe me you're not no matter how many times you say you're sorry, how do you know they have forgiven you?
Another factor contributing to football is the fans. The fans are an integral part of any team. If there is an argument on the field then the fans get involved thus increasing the danger of potential harm coming to any players or fans.
Hockey fans are more relaxed in the way they approach the sport
Football fans are passionate and you only have to look at the hillsborough disaster to realize that.

Statistics show that football, soccer, and hockey are the top 3 injury sports in the USA. For all of you anti-hunters and anti-gunners, hunting comes in at number 29! Therefore, all you dads beating your kids into football because you sucked and couldn't play the game to save your soul and all the pushy soccer moms in their mini-vans yelling at coaches (they do it for free for the benefit of your kids!), should be teaching your kids to hunt and fish. When the sh*t hits the fan, some day soon, the ability to proficiently handle a firearm will serve them much better than the ability to put a ball in a net the size of a garage or across a line. Stop watching these ''reality'' shows and spend some time with your kids. Put them in a scouting program, volunteer as a leader. Volunteer in their schools, help a teacher. Turn off your TV. Stop allowing your teen and pre-teen daughters to dress like hookers. You let them out of the house like that, but if a 40yo guy looks at them, he's a pervert and a child molester. Wake up parents!

I would have thought that hockey is more prone to injury seeing how they fly around on metal blades on their feet carrying a wooden stick and shooting a puck that can knock out teeth. Plus the fact that there are no face guards and they have the option of beating the crap out of each other if they are feeling up to it. Just an opinion

Football would probably be more dangerous because you could a concussion. But hockey is to because you could get a puck to ur face.
