I like the new stuff that is considered punk, but it's not really punk.
If you listen to NOFX, The Vandals etc (considered new punk) it rocks, but then if you listen to the Dead Kennedys, The Sex Pistols or Crass (original punk) it rocks harder, It has the punk attitude. Punk wasn't just a style of music back then, but an attitude. The new stuff borrows from it a bit, but it can't actually be considered punk, in that the attitude isn't there. And no....Greenday are not punk, although i like them.

Old punk- the Damned, the Ramones, the Sex Pistols, the Clash, the Velvet Underground

With the exception of the Adicts, who have been together since the seventies, there is no new punk.

Old punk all the way! Punk is an attitude and the new punk just doesn't have it....The Damned, The Ramones, etc had that attitude and their music was so much better than todays!

Old. I saw The Ramones twice and they were superb - also Buzzcocks, Jam, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Clash, Slits - all great live. But to us, old punk means people like The Stooges and MC5 - maybe even Velver Underground

old punk!!!! it was the true spirit of punk and the ideas of those who created it.

New (neo) punk totally sucks. it has become a mix of Emo and has totally lost the ideology that punk began with. Today punk is just a fashion style used by "rebelious" 13 year olds...

Punk is totally dead and buried
