Ok ive been reading a lot of questions and been seeing a lot of generaly stupid anwsers.
Dodge trucks are the best (in my opinion) because chrysler makes a good engine, and cummins makes a great engine.
Hemi-(from hemisphere) or crossflow cylinder head is a internal combustion engine in which the cylinder heads combustion chamber is of hemispherical form.
Contrary to popular belief hemi is not a magical engine that can power a rocketship, it is an efficient design, but not only chrysler uses it, many automakers make hemispherical combustion engines.
Cummins engines are just very good, long lasting, efficient, powerful engines, they make the best diesel there is.
Dodge trucks are just rugged capable dependable trucks, their sturdy and are just good trucks.
Most people think just because thay have a "Hemi" ( which is notthing special) they are better than all the rest.
I hope this helps people understand why dodge tucks are the best.
Please post opinions on this matter.

News Flash:...It ain't just about the engine!

People buy a truck (or any vehicle for that matter) for numerous reasons.

What about:
Reliability ?
Dependability ?
Warranty ?
Ability (to do the job the owner intends) ?
Comfort ?
Convenience ?
Quality ?
Fuel economy ?

The engine is just one factor. How about the transmission ?
And the ability of the braking system ? Whats the frame like ?
(OK...Dodge frame IS stronger than G.M.'s...but doesn't compare to Fords frame)

The engine (in a Dodge) might be good......but I think the trucks themselves have a long way to go before they can be considered "the best"

Hemi engines make better use of available horsepower by more efficient use of airflow and combustion in the engine. Cummins diesels are a very good engine, but they aren't known for honoring their warranties. An example of this is a trailer recovery and hauling business on Roseburg, Oregon, who was using the Dodge one ton with the Cummins diesel engines. They dropped the pistons right out of the bottom of three engines in two months in 1998/99. When they went to Cummins for warranties they were told the were hauling "too long of a load." They could not have claimed too heavy because of their reputation. Cummins engines are warranted by Cummins, not by Dodge. The best diesel engine has always been Fords Power-stroke engine. Dodges gas motors have always been at the forefront of the auto industry. Their dependability has always been unmatched, (with the exception of the 3.0 oil leaker.) The reliable of the 318, now discontinued, is legendary.

I have a '91 Dodge Dakota that is still going strong at 227,000 miles on the original engine. Everything still works including A/C and cruise. I could not say that about the Ford or Chevy tucks I had before that.

I know several people who have run Dodge trucks for 100,000-150,000 miles with no trouble. Some cars too. I still have the 1974 Dodge van I bought new. It is now so rusty I fear it is not safe to drive. Darn salty Wisconsin winters ate her up. At 180,000 miles she still started and ran good. But now I use it to store lumber.

I'm glad someone else realizes that the Hemi badge is nothing special. I for one though have been disappointed with all of Chrysler's build quality of late... they were the first to off 20" chrome rims though stock...
