It depends on the individual and on her/his surroundings. If you grow up still conversing with your family and they all have the same accent, you can probably keep the accent into adulthood if that is important to you. You may be able to switch back and forth, depending on your circumstances. Some people choose to lose their accent and copy the accent of the people in the area where they grow up. Others lose their original accent but then find it comes back if they go back to their childhood home and stay for awhile. Many things determine accents, so there's no one answer to your question. One thing is more certain, however. If you learn a new language after puberty, you'll almost certainly not be able to speak it exactly as a native speaker. The brain wiring for language acquisition changes around that time of life.
