Please skip the "it was wonderful" raving. I just want a fair and balanced assessment if such a thing is possible.

It was a snuff film.

Like the first responder said, 3 hours of torture. What a waste of time.

It was fascinating, gory, truly inspiring, and self-indulgent (referring to the director) all at the same time. With the actors speaking Arameic, it added a depth that lacked in other films about the same subject. There were no holds barred regarding the displayed brutality - you definitely got the idea of the suffering one endured while being tortured on a cross - not to mention the humiliation that Jesus endured during his crucifiction. However, there were definite liberties taken in the interpretation of the story of Christ - for example, the portrayal of the Jews and Romans, which seemed very lopsided - I find it hard to believe those particular Romans were that noble or thoughtful - but I do believe the film has merit. It is important to make bold films that may not appease everyone, and it did make me think - whether it be about my soul or about existing anti-semitism - and I am truly happy I saw it in the theater for the ultimate effect!

it was a sad movie. i think i was prego when i saw it and seeing mary watch her son dragging the cross was sad. it was an interesting movie. i know it's a true story, mostly. i'm not saying anything about the religious aspect and whether or not the bible is right or anything like that. but jesus was a real man in history and it showed his gruesome death. nobody should be put through that kind of torture, well rapists and pedophiles, maybe, but no one else.

I honestly believe that the romans did that. I don't think any of that torture was overboard. They should have put a scene where Jesus confronted his disciples at the shore long after he ressurected. Another scene that should have added was when he walked on water. On the part where one of the pharisee shouted, "Crucify him!" They should have put the character of the devil whispering in his ear to say it. (Like if the pharisee was being a puppet.) They should have added angels being pissed off sad at what was going on, t o make it like if we can see them, you know?

it was a truly horrifying experience. it was heart-breaking, as well. i cried almost thru out the whole thing. i don't know where they get the idea that it was wonderful because it was sickening. it's a total gore-fest of the worst kind; def. not for the faint of heart or for children either.
