Interestingly the first book of Renaissance is considered to be Machiavelli's The Prince. It is a strange kind of a book in which Machiavelli has offered some practical suggestions to an Italian prince about how to keep himself in power by manipulating his subjects.

they wrote about life, love, etc., as it was in their day, just as we write about that today, for the most part
