well in depends who you ask.- i had liwe wire pro a while back and downloaded many songs---along with many viruses!!! i downloaded a virus once that me and one other guy in germany had!---now having said that you havetwo options for free music on the web.
1. use Peer Guardian-along with the anti-virus of your choice(preferrable with scanner running in the background) and download all files to a folder that can be scanned for viruses before you open them.....or
2. download a torrent tracker such as Bitlord or Utorrent-i have had good luck with this one and google for torrent website such as torrentspy or bittorrent and download songs via torrents. i personally use this method because no one person has a complete file and therefore not prosicutable(i think i spelt that right). any way you go there are problems- there alwasyare hen you are trying to get somethink for nothing that isnt offered up to you.

Lime Wire is a cross-platform software tool that enables peer-to-peer file sharing on the Gnutella Network. This tool is similar to the popular Napster service, in that it enables the sharing, searching, and downloading of MP3 music files. However, Lime Wire takes information sharing a step further by enabling the user to share and search for all types of computer files, including movies, pictures, games, word processing documents, recipes, and more. Further, the most recent version of Lime Wire enables Group functionality, so that users can connect to people who are interested in sharing the same kinds of files as they are.

Using limewire is legal! Limewire only connects you to another users computer! What you download and use is what is illegal if its copywrited! It then becomes a matter of you and whoever you downloaded it from! You are the one who will get in trouble! I cant understand why people are so ignorant in wanting to use P2P file sharing programs to begin with! This is the number one reason viruses are passed!

well, it is legal to have it on your computer. But it is illegal to download uncopyrighted items. Most of those song, movies and other junk are viruses. You can take the risk of havin git, But i STRONGLy recopmend going out and buying a good virus scanner if you are going to keep it. always scan the folder you are downloading the items into. This way you can insure that you are not getting virus, spyware, or other bad things.

Any software that gives you music for free is illegal.
Yes, you can get in trouble for having it - but millions and millions of people use it daily - I doubt you will be the one caught.
Also limewire gives you alot of spyware, adware, and viruses. Not the safest for your computer. Be careful
