Yes, you can use it, but afterwards, us an oil. I have all wood floors, and you need water to really clean them.

I have hardwood floors in my kitchen and they can get pretty dirty. The short answer is: if your floors are finished with polyurethane, you can use water on them. If they have old varnish, water is a bad idea.
Wipe an inconspicuous area with water and leave it damp. does it make a white mark? If so, don't use water.
For poly-coated floors, what you want to avoid is letting water seep into the cracks between the boards. So a damp mop/rag/sponge is okay. You can also spray it with a cleaner and then quickly mop or wipe it up. Don't allow any puddles. You have to rince your mop (or whatever) often so it picks up dirt instead of depositing dirt.
If the floor is really dirty in some areas or has stuff stuck to it, you might have to scrape with an old credit card or something else that won't scratch. But you can't just douse it with soapy water like a vinyl or tile floor and scrub.

We have wooden floors throughout our house, some hardwood and some softwood, and we clean all of them with water, but they have a urethane finish. You can use water on even varnished floors, but make sure you wring the mop really well - it should be only damp, not soaking. We use only a damp mop on our floors. We use a little Murphy's Oil Soap as a cleaner. We dry the floors with old towels immediately after mopping. This seems to bring out the shine.
These sites have good information. I hope this helps.

No!! Do NOT mix wood (furniture, floor or anything) with water! You'll leave water spots on your beautiful wood floor. If you look in the cleaning aisle at your store (walmart, whatever), there will be special cleaners for wood floors specifically, and they won't damage your floor. I grew up in an old house with a lot of wood floors, and I remember getting lectures from my Mom on that! :) Hope this helps.

Use a mixture of vinegar and water. Do not saturate the sponge, but use it damp. Dip the sponge in the mixture and squeeze out excess water, then clean. This works to clean dirt and grease off of wooden floors without warping them. Good luck.

Are you talking about hardwood floors?
If so, clean them with warm water, and Murphy's oil. and a big towel or mop.
Immediately thereafter dry with a huge cotton towel, because you should NEVER leave the floor wet, or there will be stains and spots, and it will take the shiny coat off the hardwood if it was refinished.
