Some say he experienced a loose bowel movement in that instant...and wanted to wait a bit before rising from the seat and backing out of the classroom.

He had to wait for further information any way so why jump up and alarm a bunch of little kids. Once all was in place for him to leave, he go up and left. A president doesn't just jump up screaming and running, he needs to emain calm an in control. That is what he did.

I would imagine it was simply shock, like the rest of us. Having not had previous notice or knowledge that this was happening, I can't even imagine all the things racing through his mind at the time. If you haven't noticed, being President of this country is the most difficult job in the world.

Waiting for additional information. People that react without thinking to events that occur them wonder why he didn't jump up and start dancing around. Individuals in positions of authority don't behave like that, or shouldn't.

Because it really was not a good idea, no reason to, the school he was at was not a target, he was most likely safer there than he would have been at an official government site.
And it did alot of good for not scaring the children any more than they had to be.
I beleive it was a great move on this security part.

As you could see by the look on his face was utter astonishment and disgust. It probably took a minute just to soak in what was happening. I would have excused myself. But it is past now and we must move on.

The attacks had already taken place, there wasn't anything he could do to stop them. He was in touch with advisers that he needed to hear from and was moved as soon as it was safe to do so. I think everything was handled perfectly, don't know what else they could have or should have done. Thanks
