I know I have asked this multiple times before, but I need it for one of my classes...I am studying how other countries and nations percieve Americans as people (not America). Please include what country you are from or have lived in. No profanity and please answer the question! thanks!

im from canada and i have met many nice americans, i have american friends but i ve also noticed, particularly on Y!, is that americains do seem to think that the world revolves around them. particularly with the war on terrorism. like when someone suggested the possibility of invading france because its undermining americas war on terrorism. theres a lot of america this, america that. i do known that america is incredibly influential and powerful in the world, but sometimes i wonder, even with my american friends, how much do they know about what is happening outside of america, outside of north america.
im also pretty annoyed with the fact that many canadian soldiers have been killed or injured by american friendly fire in Afghanistan, when we are cleaning up your mess. i also think that your president is a jackass who is causing endless pain to people everywhere with all of his wars.

I am from Canada, the closest anyone can get to Americans without being American. It is hard to describe the people and not the country, because you are one in the same. I have recently moved close to the border and i have made many trips down. Everyone has been very nice to me but i can see an ignorance. You have so many people in your country, which gives you many problems. Not that we don't have problems. But all we can see being on the outside looking in, is your war with Iraq. It is hard to see past that.

Your country appears to be the richest in the world, and sometimes it appears that you don't look past your own front door. Whether it's individually or collectively if you can understand what I'm trying to say. Ignorance.
It also appears your people can hate someone in a blink of an eye, if they do not share your views or live their life in the same manner as you do.
Again, i am on the outside looking in.

So many of your people are openly prejudiced. Here, in Canada, if we are that ignorant, we would never share it. We know it's wrong and we keep it to ourselves. We would be ashamed to admit such things. (There are some exceptions to this, very rare though).

I think your country needs a new leader, one that cares for it's people, because I don't think your president does. Watch him when he speaks, and pay close attention, and you will see he does not care about anything except himself. His words are only words.

I don't mean to insult your country, but i am glad i am Canadian.

Remember the sympathy that people felt for america after 9/11?
Would you like to know where it went?
Your arrogance, and desire for a global hegemony, coupled with the barely coherent coke-addict in the white house, has made the US a pariah among nations.
THAT is how you are percieved.
This is coming from a former (and ashamed to be so) american, turned VERY happy and proud Canadian.

In my experience:

Mr average American in his own country is friendly and helpful, shows off a bit, and often appears less than very bright.

However, Mr American on holiday in the UK is loud, demanding, gobby, illmannered, and still appears less than very bright.

I'm a UK citizen.
