Check the dealers for a new crate motor. They usually only cost a couple of hundred dollars more then a re-manufactured one, and you don't have to worry about the reputability of the re-builder. They also bolt right into where the old one came out, if you are replacing an existing engine. If your dealer doesn't want to help you, go to another town where one will.
If you decide to get one from a wrecking yard, the be sure to get some kind of guarantee that it is rebuildable and not a junk engine.
You might check cab companies for well used engines that have a good block. A lot of them have many thousands of miles, but have never been bored, have been well maintained, and are very rebuildable.
