for me i can't choose between them because i can't stand either of them. as they are my two least favourite TV genres. soaps are depressing and are on forever, i just want all of them to end!! as for reality tv shows, i absolutely cannot stand watching them. any of them in fact; big brother, i'm a celebrity get me out of here, pop idol, the list goes on. if i had things my way, i'd abolish all soaps and reality tv shows from our tv screens forever. i don't see the point in them whatsoever. at least with sitcoms, i'd be laughing my **** off but with reality tv and soaps, i just find them miserable and they make crap viewing. which of the two do you dislike the most and what examples of soaps and reality shows do you hate with a passion and why?

Reality TV should be banned.
Well, what bothers me it's not the idea of making a TV program with normal people and giving the public a chance to interact with them It's just the people they choose to be in these shows and how they have a competition going on to see which channel can make the most meaningless obscene kid a "celebrity" It's the way the make the public cheer for this people while making their lives hell, like with big brother and all their pointless tasks hat just made the contestants fight and behave as 5 year old children.

I'd put reality TV higher in my own scale of distaste. I have managed to kick the soap habit along with a lot of my TV habit too so I'm being a lot more selective these days. I don't mind watching "real people" on the Internet via youtube or similar but reality TV seems to encourage wannabe "celebrities" (who crave fame above all else)at the expense of quality diverse TV programme making. If I wasn't paying for a TV license i wouldn't mind so much.The argument that reality TV is popular and so is good television is the same argument that tells us that The Sun is Britain's best selling newspaper but that doesn't automatically make it the best newspaper.

I can't stand soaps or reality shows. The soaps are so boring and are all alike - when one has a wedding the next one does, when one has a funeral another one does as the writers have literally ran out of ideas. Reality shows are even worse, there is nothing "real" about them they are so contrived. If the people in soaps and reality Shows acted like that in in real life they all would have been locked up in an institution by now!

Reality Shows suck,it was bad enough to have soap operas every day showing on TV but now these moronic shows called reality shows took over,no wonder we have a shortage of good actors and actresses,what is more unbelievable is that there are persons watching these shows,go figure

Reality shows; at least soaps are on at the same time as my 2 yo son's favorite shows, so I have a choice not to watch them... I'd rather watch "Blue's Clues" than General Hospital anyday, but reality bites... I once watched "Praise the Lord" every day for a week b/c it was on opposite Survivor. I'm not even a Christian!!!

reality TV because there are so many of them, with annoying people who never do anything. At least with Soaps they Kill people off in dramatic style every now and again. If they did that in reality TV then i'd watch

Reality tv is a joke. It never lives up to it's name...where do you see this junk going on in real life. Everyone knows there's a camera on them and they are playing for the camera.
What's worse is that a lot of the public in general are eating this up! "Who got kicked off the island this week?", "Did you see...?" I would never have my favorite singer or musician come over and just sit in with the band. Heck you can't even get them to write you back if you send a letter or email to them! It's all done by someone else. That's reality!

I agree with you.
But I would have to vote for reality programs. If that is reality then the lunatics have really taken over the asylum. I think that they are all basically as bad as each other but surely the worst must be Big Brother. What is the point of it? Its not even interesting.

I like laughing at the reality shows too much to let them go. People are really crazy! But soap operas are sooooo fake and the story lines don't always make sense because they like to make things up to make people watch it.

Soap operas because they never end. I mean there are people on the Young and the Restless who have been playing the same part for over 20 years.
