In the United States, Government control over business is important. The Government can help small business stay on their feet, and provide them with help until they become successful.
Also the Government may keep a company from becoming all powerful and taking over everything else.
They try to keep our economy balanced.
I believe that the control they have on some business do need some restraints put on them if any more control goes to the government, then we loose our rights to operate.
The Government is letting the business prosper at this time without letting them gain full control.

It makes for bigger government with more money to expand the dependence of Americans on the government and insure the politicians' jobs. It decreases entrepreneurialism and undercuts competition and the market forces.

Those who support such control argue that businesses are not capable of acting responsible without being forced, and that market pressures and economic factors are not sufficient to keep them in line. Therefore, the govt must step in and do so.

It depends on how much control we talk about. Total control (communism) is just as bad as zero influence (liberalism). Communist economy was fake, while the liberal policy lead to the Great Depression.
