Your young teenage girl (think under15) to get a body piercing? Say, nose or navel? Why, or why not?

no.. because I said so.

No because she is too young.. no because she will look cheap..no because she is living under my roof..no because I said so. No because she may change her mind, and the scar will be there for life.. like a tattoo.. bad idea .and no because I said so.

Yikes, good question. Nose, probably not...just because I think they look tacky on most people. Navel...well, there's no point to that since there's no way a girl under the age of 15 living under my roof is going to be wearing bikinis or midriff tops in public. I guess my answer is no. She can come see me again when she's 16 if she still wants one, and we'll talk then.

There isn't anything wrong with getting your nose or naval pirced. As long as your parents say yes and you are sure thats what you want then I find it ok. But if you do want to get them done, just make sure to take really good care of it so it doesn't get infected.

Not until she is 18 years old (no longer a minor). Until then parents have a duty and obligation to protect their children and their children's bodies from harm.

Maybe sometimes parents even need to cause some discomfort to those teens' backsides in order to prevent those teens from harm!!!

Much better, though, for those teen to respect and honour their parents. If their parents say "no" to piercings, then abide by that "no"; don't keep pestering and begging and pleading.

And, yes, parents need to tell us "NO" when it is for our own good!!

As long as the parent is willing, why not?

Personally I think it's fine, and if my daughter, at the age of 13 (no younger) asked, I'd sign for it and let her do it... She would of course have to pay for it herself.

But piercing isn't forever -- it can be taken out and it heals. As long as the child is old enough to take care of it herself... go for it.

first i say no to nose tongue or navel because it's bad for the inner balance (like in your inner ear) and they'll get headaches more because it throws off that inner balance. not to mention when they sneeze the snot'll hang there around the ring, not to mention all the snagging and those pretty infections.

Depends on her maturity level. I would use it as a reward for good actions. I would have her postpone it for a month or two to make sure it is not an impulsive decision

no, possibly her ears, but one in each ear only, and only that because its very widely done and its hard to explain to her that her body is still growing and any modifications she makes are with her for life. I would buy her some very good quality clip on body jewellery though, so she could still express her fashion sense without damaging her skin

I don't see anything wrong with body piercings. At least she isn't asking for tattoos
