Expropriationism is the concept that I may take from others to help the needy, giving nothing of my own but this is in contradiction to helping the needy in that I should give of my own to help the needy, taking from no one. Follow the logical progression in this example, which the liberal politicians follow on a daily basis:
1. Late one night while walking along, a man draws a knife and demands my money for drugs.
2. Now instead of demanding my money for drugs, he demands it to help his sick mother.
3. Now instead of being alone, he is with the doctor who acts as bagman.
4. Now instead of drawing a knife, he produces a law officer who says I must do as the man says.
5. Then instead of meeting me on the street, he mails me his demand as an official agent of the government.

If the first example is theft how can anyone believe the other four are not theft. Taking is taking regardless of the cause.

coragryph - excellent point, so how do you get the socialists who call themselves liberals to understand and acknowledge the difference, as liberalism as practiced by the democrats is socialism, the antithesis of capitalism.

Liberals do not all believe in forced contribution. Democracts do.

Many liberals oppose the government forcing people to contribute, and believe that voluntary contribution will always be more effective.

That's why many liberals have left the Democratic party.

Coragyrph,
The only reason I can see a liberal joining the libertarian party is if the liberal is a major druggy and they like the libertarian stance on legal drugs for all. A liberal would have to give up their humanity and their caring for others to become a true libertarian... and in the process they would no longer be a liberal.

To be a libertarian, one must be more concerned about ones self over the needs of society as a whole. Being self centered at the expense of others is more of a conservitive or libertarian trait. For example, a conservitive would rather see someone starve to death than pay a .5% tax to fund a food program for the poor, mainly because they feel that poor person is not working hard enough. The libertarian would agree with that line of thought not only for disdain for the poor and their 'lack of work', but also because they see most taxes, no matter how worthwhile they may be, as a bad thing automaticly.

A conservitive is like the Grinch. A libertarian is like the Grinch's great grandfather who is a bitter old hermit who hates everyone, even the little doggy that pulls his sled. Heck, if the Grinch could replace that american doggy with one from Taiwan that only gets paid 10 cents a day, the libertarian would masturbate with glee.
