Actually the hum is the vibrational sound from their wings moving at the high rate of that they do, BUT yes they do have a little chirp just as all birds do.
Actually I have 12-15 feeders for Hummers at my home so they are all over. They really have more of a mouse like sound. At least the Ruby Throated Hummers. The Rufus Hummingbird has various thin squealing notes.
All and all their voice is about the same size they are.

Yes they do. Besides the noise of their wings...the hum, they make kind of a clicking/chirping sound....its short and not very loud. That is what I heard from a Ruby throated humming bird, don't know if the others make noise.

Yes, beside the humming of their wings they do make chirping sounds when they are at my feeders. They are very territorial and I presume are warning the others off.

Yes they do make a sound. We have allot of them around where we live, and they make like a little one chirp sound. They're very aggressive and try to "dive bomb" each other.Usually you can get them to come around, no matter where you live by putting red flowers or anything red around, they're attracted to.They're many different species, and they are all beautiful.
