Well, they called you for a reason!!! Now just go and show yourself to them. You'll be fine...be relaxed and you'll be working in no time!

Proud of you!

Dress real nice.
Firm handshake.
Good posture.
Look them in the eye when you speak.
Say "sir" or "ma'am".
Be early.

Think of a few questions to ask. The interviewer will usually ask if you have any questions and it is best to have some. It looks like you did your homework and are interested.

Since this is obviously entry level, they will be looking for someone with a cheerful personality that they would also like to work with.

Think of something you have done in school or afterschool activities or dance or sports or something that required dedication, hard work, and a goal that was accomplished. It doesn't have to be a cure for cancer, just something you worked hard to achieve.

Most of all relax. Everyone else they are interviewing is in the same boat as you.

Interviews can be nerve-racking but they don't need to be. I have conducted hundreds of interviews and the people who have impressed me the most are the one who have a pleasant personality. So, just be yourself and speak the truth and you will be fine. Something most people don't realize is that YOU are interviewing THEM as well! You need to determine if this is a place you want to work. Look around, see how the employees are acting and interacting with one another. Are they relaxed and having fun? Do they look stessed out and miserable? What about the person interviewing you? Is he/she pleasant and welcoming towards you? If not - you may not want to work there anyway...So, like I said, just take a deep breath and relax - you'll be fine.

Good for you Minky! Tips for your first interview, eh..

1. Be yourself, when interviewing for a job you are not trying to GET the job you are trying to find a job that fits your style.. If you are yourself, you will present yourself better, and be more relaxed.

2. In the retail industry MOST employers are looking for reliability, customer service skills, and a desire to learn. Think of examples of how you do this in your every day life, even if you might not have had a job, you have most certainly had experience.

be yourself, be absolutely honest, make eyecontact and smile. I assume its for a shop assistant? If so they will want to see that you will be freindly and at ease with the customers
