The republicans are always against any program that they have
to have money coming out of their pockets for especially if it will
also benefit the working middle class and the poor. They have been trying for years to get their hands on that money but have not
been able to do so yet. In the meantime, I notice that they are the
first in line to get the benefits, checks , insurance reimbursement
and any other perks as if they needed it. If something is not covered by medicare insurance they hate to take their wallets out and pay for something . That is why the rich keep getting richer and everyone else is poor. The rich get the job perks and the money , stocks , capital gains, but do not want to have the minimum wage rate go up. The last time it went up there was not
alot of companies closing but it meant less money for the rich. Anyone thinking that by supporting them that they will also get rich
its not going to happen. When I think of wealthy republicans the oil men and etc the word Greed comes to mind. They talk a good
game and then vote the opposite . They accuse the democrats
of big spending but we are broke and paying through the noses
we are not for every welfare program , we can't afford to pay our
own bills with the president we now have. The bush family has
to be defeated in the next election and all their rich oilmen and
banker buddies with them.

What on earth are you talking about here?
I've seen some comments that Social Security needs some reform, but no indication that Bush or Republicans think it's a "bad program".

My suspicion is they just SAY they think it's a bad program; that's to lure enough people into being willing to change it.
What they really think is bad is that all that money being invested in social security can be invested in the private sector, and they want to get their hands on the dough. They want that money to be invested in the economy, which will help the economy and those poised to invest in the economy.
The rest of us can just whither away or disappear, I guess.

There is no pot of money or "lock box"; this is simply a budgetary expense. The goverment has known for years that the social security system will fail. Bush has tried to fix it, something no one else has tried to do. It is a giant Ponzi scheme where the many early workers paid money to retirees, and its getting so that there are more and more retirees so that the burden is much heavier on the workers' shoulders.

Bush and his cronies represent the rich. rich people dont need the lousy 600 or 800 bucks a month that SS will provide. By kicking poor folks in the teeth, the rich get richer, and that, my friend is the sole agenda of the republican party criminals.

One tip of advice is to think before you write cause it just makes you look like a fool. Bush's SS plan would invest your contributions which in turn would give you a higher rate of return. Another issue that this plan would solve is inflation, money loses its value over time which the market would compensate for that loss.
This plan would benefit everyone not just the rich.

The program has been use to fund to many other things and now it's going broke. You can get a better return on your money if you invest it yourself. Giving your money to the government to invest for you is like giving a jar full of cookies to a child and telling him not to eat any.

Their interest is getting access to the Social Security trust fund. It's a huge protected pot of money that they want access too.

I'm all for it, hopefully that would mean I don't have to pay into the stupid scam anymore, since it probably won't survive until I get old enough to collect anyways. Let me build my own retirement, not help lazy bums build theirs.
