the answer lies in your question it self. there are several reasons for becoming a terrorist.1.children who are deprived of love from their parents and had traumatic experiences in their child hood in their latter life become terrorists.2.people having inferiority complex become terrorists and take up arms thinking that they are superior to others.people who miserably failed in sex become aggressive psychopaths and become terrorists. 3.some sections of people who got biased treatment either in the name of religion or creed or race become terrorists.4.schizophrenics, psychopaths who think that they received messages from god to kill the people of other sects of people condition the brains of gullible people and make several innocent people as terrorists. 5.cruel states do not tolerate peoples' liberation movements and resort to state terrorism 6.though some people who are normal and peace loving people, resort to terrorist activities with a wrong notion that ends justify means ,. if the terrorists are caught alive, they are to be treated properly by psychiatrists and aggressive psychopaths to be kept in assylums. in case of political terrorists, democratic forces should educate them that only by participation of the masses they can attain their goal.for example peace ful transition from monarchy to democracy.all peace loving people should not only denounce terrorist activities at the same time should not hate other religions, political ideological groups

Terrorism is a political view, or in the case of some Islamics, a religion. It is falsely believed that suicide in the name of a god or a country is a passport to heaven, and that the stakes are even higher if you bring a lot of innocent people along with you. They are definitely sociopaths, and I would say they are more apt to be suffering from an attitude of superiority rather than an inferiority complex. Maybe this begins in childhood when aggression turns to leadership among the peer groups. Psychotherapy can do very little to change their political agenda or make them into normal human beings, as you indicate. I agree that they need to be locked up somewhere -- but better in prison than in a mental institution. But you would have to try and capture all of them first, which is about like trying to kill all the flies in the world.

A terrorist is certainly not completely insane or even suffering from mental illness. In regards to the terror in the US.....well each believes they are doing right for the love of islam and will become Marters for the cause......this is worth more than anything life can serve them up. Most of the modern day terrorists in my opinion wear suits and ties and make millions each year preying on the feeble minds of us......through psychology. If u really want to know who the real terrorists are i suggest you look at the dvd loose change online......then look at the world through a new looking glass....

In my opinion, which is fairly uneducated on the subject, its because there isn't a lot else for them to do. Especially in wor torn areas of the world. By getting with a terrorist group they actually have a place to belong and goals to achieve. Its something to do and a way to make an impact. Besides, a lot of people are started down the road when they are very young and are taught its the right way. They are never taught anything else so why would they know anything else?

Indoctrination, most are recruited at a vulnerable age, and maybe they are emotionally immature, unable to reflect and judge things based on life experience.
It's amazing what people will beleive if it absolves them of the need to think for themselves and gains them self esteem.
Looking at reformed terrorists who have been released from Jails in Ireland, some deeply regret what happened in the past, so no they can't all be psychopaths.

This question needs a lot of research. Some of them may become terrorists because of indoctrination. Many may lack sufficient knowledge of the issues they want to solve. Some may don't know of better ways to solve the problem. Some may feel helpless. There could be many reasons. But unless there is comprehensive study and research on this subject, we may not know the answer.

First a what's a terrorists? Any one that goes against or opposes current political governement and wants to bring about change.

In our world the only way to change things in our societies is through war. When American went against England, they were terrorists.
