So I want to build a private pool in my yard. The bigger the pool, the more expensive it is going to be. A 25 meter (82ft) pool would be ideal, but too big and expensive. A 6 meter (20ft) pool is affordable, but too small.

What is the absolute minimum length for a pool to swim laps in?

The size of the yard is not a limiting factor; it's pretty big.

Although a 25 meter pool would be perfect, a 15 meter pool would also work. 15 meters is at least long enough to get in some strokes, before you make your turn to swim back.

I hate swimming laps in anything but a 25 or 50 meter pool. But I'm a freak and I like to record my times and my pace whenever I do laps, so they're the only accurate sizes in which I can do that.

Try those endless pools where you swim against the current and never have to reach the wall.
