There are about a billion reasons.

I have a genetic background that makes it easier for me to gain weight. My family has no metabolism. I do not blame genetics entirely, but I do know I will never be able to get below a size 12 based on my body frame.

Stress and depression aids in weight gain, because people (especially women) tend to eat during high stress situations. Also, healthy foods are much, much more expensive than unhealthy food (just look at the menu at McDonalds). For instance, my weight wasn't too bad until I got to college. I did not drink a lot, enabling me to gain, like many do. My dorm did not offer a salad bar (well, they did, but the lettuce was brown and growing stuff), and I couldn't afford to get healthy foods when eating out because I had no real source of income. If you don't have a lot of money, then eating healthfully is difficult.

Finally, there is always just--food. People love food. Food is part of our culture. When people go out, they go to dinner. When you go to the movies, you get popcorn. Food is shoved at us wherever we go, and it is often considered rude if we don't eat. Also, people tend to prefer food that is not good for them. Where I live, Chipotle is one of the most popular restaurants. The burritos there average 1500 calories a piece! People just don't think about what they're taking in if it tastes good.

Well because it was meant to happen. Just because someone might get fat doesn't mean there any less of a person then someone skinny. Plus skinny actually makes people look like they are sick or something. I personally think everyone should have at least medium in size. They look healthier that way. And no one is better then anyone else. And it is wrong to judge people anyway.

Wen people eat really fatty n foods rich in carbs n sugars, n wen they don't xercise, the fat is not utilised properly and gets deposited under their skin. In this way a person bcums fat. Or its in some poeple's genes too. So those people really can't help it. Usually the lazy n lethargic lot of people get it.

Um.. Well they might have a different metabolism. They might eat too much, they might not eat healthy, they might not get enough exercise. No offense but, that was kind of a rude question, I mean they are just the same as everyone else. Everyone weighs different weights. It's a part of life.

because back in the olden days and in third world countries, you didn't always have food. so all the extra energy that the body didn't use at that time was stared and saved until the body thought it was needed. now that we have upset this balance by eating whenever we want, our bodys still prepare incase there is not enough food later.
