How come you don't think I should be able to decide to pay or NOT to pay more taxes to help support

*deadbeats (drug addicts who get social security)
*illegals
*tramps with 10 kids and 10 different fathers
*slackers who just want to do the bare minimum to get by and then collect food stamps and get the earned income credit tax refund.

I WANT THE "RIGHT TO CHOOSE" TOO!

The right to choose only affects what happens internal to your body. Anything above that you can choose to do, by performing a medical procedure internal to your own body, you are free to do.

Since paying taxes is not an internal process within your own body, you have no control over it if the government decides to take that choice away from you.

Illegals pay much more into the system than they get out in terms of benefits. I'm sure the writer has benefited from it without even being aware: restaruant food, lawn care, menial hard labor, produce @ the grocery store. They might be behind the scenes, but they are there. Like it or not, we'd all have much higher prices on a lot of things without them.

The deadbeats, tramps and slackers are truly a tiny % of the public outlay.

I feel that if people oppose medical or surgical termination of pregnancy, then they should also be for early childhood health care and learning programs. It's inconsistent not to be. Otherwise they grow up to be deadbeats, tramps and slackers.

Sometimes it seems that the anti-abortion people only care about babies until they are born, and that seems inconsistent to me. During the child's formative at-risk years, heads are turned away, then the focus and perjorative statements resume when the kids reach adult stature & are now felt responsible for their own actions. It's very sad.

By the way, most drug addicts on social security have mental illnesses (most of which are inherited). If you've ever dealt with people with mental illness, you know it's very hard to get them to take their meds. The less socio-economic support the person has, the less likely they are to get on & stay on treatment, and they often end up on the streets. Which increases crime.

Pay now or pay later; I'd rather pay now.

I understand what you are talking about. Living in Wisconsin is one tax after another. I have written to politicans here several times but for some reaon all they can think of is that raising taxes or a new tax will be a solve all. I agree that it is frustrating to provide relief and money for people who do this. I don't want to cut the programs but merely make individuals you listed not able to apply or a time period of how long it can last. I understand that taxes have to go to the greater good and not all programs are viewed that way on an individual opinion.

Actually only a very small percentage of your taxes go for things like that, less than 2%.

I have a question though, why doesn't the father have a say into what is done? The woman can choose to kill her child, but if she doesn't, the father is required to pay support. If the mother chooses abortion, it's woman's rights. If the man suggests it, he is a creep. Why?

(No, I'm not pro-abortion, just asking)

You have the right to not pay taxes as long as you're prepared to live with the consequences. Just like those who support abortion.

....and I'll have you know that your poor old granny who collects social security is not a deadbeat.

You've hit a nail on the head! In large (and populous) parts of the US there are a couple of other things you are not free to choose:

1 - your child's public school
2 - to carry a concealed, unlicensed handgun for personal protection against predators

No - YOU have no choice; just do what you're told and everything will be fine. Or, to put it another way, give us your money and we will take care of you. Sure, right!

So, God forbid, if you are raped and become pregnant, you will have the right to choose whether or not you want the kid from that attack with you for the rest of your life.

Don't you think that's worth it?

Anyways, the only way to fix the problem you speak of is to sterilize those people. That's what I wish would happen. Then it would be a non-issue.

That is ridiculous, you can't compare a woman choosing what happens to her own body, to you being forced to pay taxes so you can continue living in this country.

Come up with a better argument, because that one sucks.

I am very liberal and totally against all anti-life things such as abortion, birth control, killing babies, the death penalty and abstinence.

Why do you want to pay more taxes to pay to kill people when the death penalty has been proven to kill innocent people and let the guilty murder go free?
