Many of us believe that some people have done such horrific things that they are irredeemable and do not deserve to live.

Why DOES the USA have the death penalty. Get your facts. Not all states do. It is voted on by the citizens of the states. Don't like it? Get a referendum started and get it on the ballot to stop it. Not likely though. You will probably piss and moan about it, and nothing more.
I don't know if it is right or wrong, all I know is that Timothy McVey will not kill anymore children sleeping in day care centers in Federal Bldgs.

because in this country the people decide what law they won't either directly or buy electing officials to enact them yes some people don't like some of the laws however they where enacted for a reason as fare as the death penalty most countries of the world have it they just don't admit it in a lot of countries a prison sentence is a death sentence just a lot less humane and then you get the countries that just kill you on the spot no trial like Sharia law rather brutal and final

Because it is in the law. Some states do not use the death penalty. I feel it is justified to kill someone that has done a horrific crime. I would rather like to know that someone that molested and killed 10 kids is dead than know he has a 6x8 cell with a TV and a nice library he can go to and get an education just so he can fill our courtrooms with bogus lawsuits.

You will be happy to learn; that it is not to punish poor grammar.
The death penalty goes back to biblical times.."An eye for an eye". It has been used worldwide as a punishment for capital crimes. It reminds others of the consequences for their actions.
People often argue that it is cheaper to put someone to death, than to incarcerate them. With the current legal requirements, it is actually much more expensive.

i don't know, but we shouldn't. so many times mistakes are made and the wrong people are in prison, you never know when an innocent person has been executed. i'm sure it doesn't happen a lot, but the fact that it happens at all is too many times. i know i wouldn't want myself or a loved one to have to "take one for the team" and be executed while innocent, just so the death penalty could continue to kill those who are guilty. apparently murder is only a crime here if the government doesn't do it.

Because the US Supreme Court has determined that it is not actually prohibited by the Constitution, and thus each legislature (state and federal) may choose whether to have it or not.

Most states choose to allow the death penalty.

Who knows? It's far too expensive, time consuming and inefficient. We should put them to work. Nothing barbaric, but like building habitat for humanity homes, or rebuilding New Orleans and Iraq. Having them waste away in a cell is a waste of money, and lets them off easy. They should be forced into contributing to society to atone for acting against it. Killing them is useless. Put them to work!
