I am over 39 weeks pregnant and I have this awful rash...I called the on-call doctor last night and the midwife called me back and told me to take Benedryl...she said I could do a pill and a topical ointment...well I have taken 4 doses of the pill and have used the cream several times and the itching is still there. I can't deal with it anymore. I am uncomfortable as it is being at the end of my pregnancy. The itching just makes things worse. Should I call the doctor again today and see what else can be done? I don't know what else to do!

You do not say where you are located. If you live in the US get to an urgent care center or hospital emergency room. If the allergy medication did not work, you could have a bacterial
infection. Being pregnant, this is nothing to be careless with.
You do not want to transmit this to your infant.

try taking a bath in oatmeal or epson's salts. it's a drag during the end of the pregnancy--everything annoying is that much more intense. it may be a hormonal sensitivity or reaction to your bath gel or some sort of soap, detergent, or lotion that hasn't given you problems before--so be concious of what you're using and stick to hypoallergenic products as much as possible. hang in there--it's almost over! congrats!

hi there, i wouldn't worry too much, i had the same problem, then i found out that i was allergic to my bath products, i stopped putting bath oils etc in the bath and i started using simple products, as my midwife suggested, (i thought it was insane) but it worked for me, no more itchy skin or rashes.
pregnancy takes alot from you, in my case i became very sensitive, give it a try
