I too have a problem with this question. Do you find it hard to live with yourself? Did you not help a child in need and blame yourself for it's lost life? As an average citizen of the world I would hope the majority would help a child in need. Our government has programs to feed and clothe children less fortunate, orphanages take in children in need of parents, schools were designed to educate them. We have hospitals that are for children only throughout the world. Laws such as "The Amber Alert" were regulated to protect our children. It is an offense to pass a school bus loading or unloading children or to speed in a school zone. I know of neighbors that have no children watch out for the little ones on their block. Every day in every walk of life I sense people keeping guard over the young. No we have not all saved a drowning child or run in a burning building to save a small life, not that we wouldn't, just that we have not been faced with such a trauma. But that does not mean we wouldn't protect a child if the circumstanced called for us to do so. Now if your saying all the abuse whether verbal, mental or physical (beatings/sexual) that is happening to the children through-out the world why does it go on and we as a society have not stopped it once and for all, well even that has been given more and more attention to these days. It is hard to accuse a parent or custodian of neglect and/or abuse and even then the courts seem to give the child back to the parent. Even I don't understand the why's and how could they when the childs very life is in danger or in the very least corrupt by the ones supposedly taking care of them. I don't always agree with the way our legal system works when it comes to the children but I don't condem the whole planet for their shortcomings.

Are you talking about a specific conflict, atrocity or natural disaster, or just in general?

Lots of children are saved every day. They are rescued, cured or whatever. There are also lots of terrible things going on in the world and lots of people, children included suffer because of them.

It is a noble thing to want to help. And of course it's natural to want to do something to make ills better, but what would you do. How would you do anything to make it better. Most wars are fought because someone believes they can make things better. They don't believe they are doing wrong. To them it would be you doing wrong if you intervened.

Stopping wars usually means applying force which just causes more killing.

The only answer is tolerance and there is very little of that around. Most people just don't want it.

Question should be rewritten to be clear to the readers. People are barbaric, true. That is a minority, I like to believe. You have to have trust in people, or else you will go crazy and turn into one of those recluses living in the woods.

Many children have been saved though interventions. Unfortunately, we cannot save them all. Even Superman would have a hard time with that.

It's a serious enough subject: The death of children.
But out of curiosity, Why would anyone seek YOUR forgiveness?

Maybe the broad generalizations are why I find this question difficult to understand.

I would answer your question if it was less generalized. Allot of children have been and are saved everyday from, drowning, accidents, etc.. Please be more specific.
