use a mixture of water and white vinager. let it soak and then try to bring to a boil then draing and clean, repeat as needed.

If its plastic toss it out.The plastic is a by product of oil and has been linked with cancer in a big way. A steel or iron kettle are best and this scale is chlorine or calcium / minerals.

Use a pumice stone, it scratches off the scale without damaging the kettle, it's good for toilets too.

I find vinegar, or citric acid work well. But I agree, if kettle is getting old, you may want to get rid of it.

Sorry, what do you mean by rough scale.,or is too old? anyway I will advice you ,if the dirt can not washed out with washing liquid or even iron sponge, b/cos its too old please ,please just gabbage it earlier b/4 you get electrocuted. thanks and good luck from the most dangerous city in the world)

You can use vinegar, or you can actually use alka seltzer tablets.
