It really depends what kind of skin type you are. Some foundation is oil free or have water based ingrediants in them. The best thing to do is go to a department store and go round all the different makes and let them try different foundations on you, then what you do is ask for a free sample to try for a few days. Some foundations are quite expensive so you want to be getting the right one really!!

Make up monster here. NEVER be a skin flint with make up and always pay for a good one. Rimmel do a new foundation that gives a smooth and clear look also lasts all day. Max Factor lasting performance is also excellent. Always remember to take it off every night cleanse, tone and moisturise every day twice if you can to keep a good clear skin and drink gallons of water.

Estee Lauder. Use either Maximum Cover for a completely flawless finish or Double Wear for good coverage but a slightly lighter look. There are so many shades available that there will be a perfect one to match your skin tone.
My answer got chosen as the best for a similar question to yours because the asker took my advice, tried it and loved it. Trust me, once you have seen what Estee Lauder can do for you, you will never look at another brand. It is the ultimate foundation. Set it with Clinique pressed powder and your other makeup will glide on effortlessly and stay put all day.

I have quite problematic skin and ive found L'ancomes Teinte Idole foundation fantastic!
Ive recently just bought it to use on my wedding day and it goes on brilliantly either with your fingers or a foundation brush. Its expensive but worth every penny because you dont need a lot.
I got the consultant that served me to apply some on my jawline to see how it looked. I then asked for a sample to try before I bought a full bottle - as soon as i finished the sample i raced back to the department store to buy it! Hope you find one that suits you! :)

I've tried all the over the counter and expensive makeups (even some that you can't buy at the mall) After years of searching, I found Prescriptives Flawless makeup. It's a liquid that helps hide little imperfections and the lady at the sales counter will help you match your exact skin tone. It's very lightweight, made for sensitive skin and one bottle lasts several months. Plus, it has sunscreen and the more you wear it, the clearer your skin will be!

I just tried something that I saw on this show 10 years younger...that lady always uses the airbrush foundation...I bought some and will live on it!!I have gotten my mother, aunt, and my friends hooked. It has great coverage and feels like you have nothing on..just use a traingle spounge and wet it before applying(you really should do that with any foundation so your spounge wont suck up all your make up)it is great....(I have alot of freckles that I can't stand and it covers them up pretty good)you can buy it at walmart or at any department store at your local mall....they come in all sorts of makeup lines so you usually can pick your favorite brand name
