I just had a baby about 2 months ago, and my experience was horrible.. I'd rate the pain at around a 10, and I actually have a pretty high pain tolerance.. I was induced at about 730am was in labor for about 17 hrs (got an epidural around noon or so), I pushed for about 2 1/2 hrs, but before I started pushing the Dr stopped the meds in my epidural and turned the pitocin all the way up!! I was freaking horrible!! By the time they figured out the baby was too big for me to push through, I was already dying.. It seemed like it took forever to get me to the OR.. By the time I did get there, tears were streaming down my face, I was screaming, I couldn't sit still... They tied me to the bed for the c-section, gave me more drugs in the epidural, it didn't kick in fast enough, and I told them.. they gave me gas, and more drugs through my IV.... By the time the baby was out and they were removing the placenta I was awake again and could hardly breath, I thought someone was sitting on my lungs.. but that was just pressure they said, well pressure hurts too... Anyway healthy 9 1/2 lb baby his head was 14 1/4 in... wonder why I couldn't push him out!!

well it may start off at a out a 1-2 then usually end up at about a 9-10 wether you are induced or not the pain is going to be the same but the difference is that when your induced it all comes on faster, and then usually ends faster too. With my first I was induced and it took for ever to start but when it finally did it hit me like a "train" I went to almost nothing to full blown labor and it was so painful! With my second baby I went naturly, it was just as painful!!! and with my third my water broke and I wasn't even having good enough contractions to dialate so the gave me patocin to get everything moving quicker... like I said the difference between the two is when your induced it comes on faster... so labor it self ends up to be very painful... that is why they have meds to help relieve or ease the pain. Some people may not have as much pain as others... everyone is different... some people have a high pain tolerance and some do not! It is different for everyone... just like if one got a tatoo and said they would never do it again because it hurt so bad then a nother one said "I could have slept through it!" But the thing about labor is when it is over you almost instantly forget about how bad it hurt!!! After so long you will remember you were in pain but you most likley won't remember what exactly felt like!

The amount of pain you feel depends on the person. Having a child is not a pain-free experience. It does come with it's own pains -- from the time of carrying the child right through to having the child.

I was induced, some say that it often brings about a more painful labor because it's more intense and without the "natural progression" your body reacts more to it -- AND, being induced didn't speed up my labor ANY (I was in labor for 19.5 hours). But to be completely honest, I had my child without any drugs of any sort.

Take prenatal classes if you're intending to have a child -- rather if you're pregnant. And with it, try taking yoga classes as well -- yes, they do offer them for pregnant women. Both classes will teach you wonderful breathing techniques that will get you through 90% of the pain.

But on a scale of 1-10 ... For the most part it was a 6... When the baby's shoulders popped out and I tore... It was upwards of a 9 ... but then that doesn't happen for most women.

Besides, the pain is only momentary. When you hold your child in your arms it doesn't seem to matter anymore.

Oohhhhh...the pain, the pain! Since my labor was induced, I think it was a lot worse than what it should have been, so I would give MY pain an 8.5. I did receive an epidural shot to the spine, which helped a lot with the contractions, however, the only thing it didn't block was the pain of my daughters shoulders coming through as she was being born. That's a feeling like no other I've ever experienced...and that's why she's an only child.

Please note that not all women experience this type of pain and some are actually blessed to give birth right away with little pain.

I just had a baby 3 weeks ago and I didnt really feel a whole lot of pain after I got an epidural. I would say about a 4 or maybe a 5. I was actually in more pain after.

I just had a baby 5 weeks ago, naturally, and I would say it's a 10. Sorry. But I had two others with an epidural and they were about an 8. But there are a lot of factors involved like whether you're given pitocin, how many children you've had, etc. In general, it hurts like hell.

YES! don't want to scare you if you are planning to have a baby, but i wish i knew how much it hurt before i had my first (one). But never fear the epidural is here relax with the drugs available you feel none to very little pain.I always tell people that the epidural was sent from heaven. PS. a friend rating don't think they have a scale that measures the pain of giving birth.its like no other.

i've had 3 kids, one with epidural so didn't feel a thing till after, had 2 since then with just gas and air, pushing the baby out is ok, it's the contractions that kill def a 10 all the way! saying that after i had my second said i'd never do it again, my little one 5 months now, i will not put myself through that pain again!

Its a 10, but then it all depends on your attitude and what a chicken and crier you are, If you have a positive attitude and tell yourself eventually this will be over, then it isn't half as bad, besides if you really can't take it, there are drugs available that can take some if the pain. I had mine, even a breach birth, natural and yes it hurts like hell. But you'll forget! Once the little bundle lies in your arm, you know it was all worth it.
Besides we seem to look alike, so if you adopt my attitude you'll be fine,
