One: Never give your email address to anyone, unless it's in person.
Two: When signing up for stuff that asks for your email address, use a "spam email" that will recieve all of that website's spam.
Three: If you know that it's all from one person, block that person and report them (your webmail service has a function to do this)
Four: Is your filter on the highest setting?
Five: Never reply to a spam, as this just tells the person who is spamming you that your email address actually exists.
I have used all of these, and I only get about 1 or 2 spams a month, at most. Most of my spams actually end up in my Gmail account, since that's the account I throw around the internet.

You will never get spammers to stop sending their mail. You must focus on how to keep from receiving it.
The best thing that I can advise is to get a new email address and then don't give it out to anyone but people you can trust. Use a second Yahoo email or something for online registrations etc.
Filters and stuff just guess at how to stop spam - and whenever they figure out a particularly good way to do it, spammers learn it and adapt (like the Borg, they are relentless).
Peace!

Use a good filter.
Try not to use the address on the internet so that the address can be 'harvested' e.g. on message boards
If you know it's spam, don't open the e-mail, just delete it, because it can send a message back to show the address is active if you open it, even if you don't reply.
Never ask to unsubscribe from unsolicited messages as that can also tell them the e-mail address is active.
Alternatively rely on pen and paper!

Sounds like your E-mail account has been compromised, or you picked up a virus, Henry. Immediately have your computer checked for a 'bug' or 'bugs.' If you have the proper programs, do the scans yourself, if not you need to take your computer to some one who can. Once it is clean of pests, install a firewall and an anti-virus program if you do not have one yet. I strongly recommend a program for malware and adware also. After you finish this, then go in and change your password, using a good strong one. Also, check your account information and make sure no information was changed, if it was change it back immediately. Then, you will have to inform your contacts that it was not you sending that mail, but they need to check their computers in case they were also infected.
