Comet Halley, officially designated 1P/Halley, more generally known as Halley's Comet after Edmond Halley, is a comet that can be seen every 75-76 years. It is the most famous of all periodic comets, even though in every century many comets appear brighter and more spectacular. Halley's comet last appeared in the inner Solar System in 1986, and will next appear in the summer of 2061

Hi. You have your answer so I'll just add that I saw Halley's comet in 1986 through a pair of binoculars (I didn't have a telescope yet) and it was beautiful. Not because it was bright or spectacular but because I had waited to see it for a long time. Just knowing what it was made for a great experience.

It was in 1986, and was not an impressive sight. The 1910 appearance was spectacular; the Earth went right through the tail. Halley's orbital period is 76 years.
