First question - Yes. I can tell you with complete sincerity and I have no reason not to tell the truth. I honestly believe that I am completely unbiased. I think it is true especially with regard to the listed bias of gender, age, race and nationality and I would include as well as ethnicity, religious affiliation, sexuality, and different ability.
Second question - Have I ever had preconceptions? I do not think so - at least not on first meeting. I have always seen every person I meet as a unique individual and I have not classified them by generic groupings. On the other hand after meeting certain individuals I have had preconceptions about how that individual person will be likely to behave towards me or others based on my previous experience. In that sense I suppose I do make judgements but only on a specific individual not as a rule about generic groups.
Why do you ask?

I think no one is 100% unbiased about these things. We are all shaped by the things we hear and learn as children and we can be biased without even being aware of it. We can only say that we are trying to be as fair and objective as possible but it is inevitable that our upbringing and values sometimes influence us in ways that make us biased. Self awareness is the best way to deal with our own prejudice against things, cultures and people.
Yes, I have made preconceptions and assumptions, based on limited facts and knowledge but I'm learning to resist the temptation of doing this.

Of course, we're all biased in some way!
Gender: Men are dumb, pigheaded creatures who hate to be wrong and refuse to stop and ask for directions. Women are nagging, nitpicky shopaholics who should double as the wife, the maid, the sex slave and the nanny.
Age: Old people are rude and move like turtles. Teens are irresponsible and loud. Little Kids are mischievous.
Race: Blacks are loud, rowdy, dirty, uneducated and ghetto. Hispanics like loud music and pile up 13 relatives in a car or apartment. Whites always play by the book, are snitches and uppidy. All Asian know how to do nails.
I don't make preconceptions in all of these categories, just mainly gender against men, lol! Hope these preconceptions don't offend anyone but we all know someone who thinks like this or have met people in each of these categories who make these statements seem true.

I am biased about all of those things at one time or another. But sometimes the people that are the victims of my bias prove me wrong. I make preconceptions all the time but it doesn't mean I'm always right. The problem is that stereotypes wouldn't exist if there wasn't some element of truth to them.

I am an honestly biased person I guess. I know I have my fears and I know that I was taught to be suspicious of others. But I have spent most of my young life trying to unlearn the programming and start learning the universal language of humanity. We are all members of the same family. I try to be as good a meber as I can, even though I am still learning what that means.

It's proven that no one is completely unbiased. But it's your actions that determine if you are discriminating or not. Education is the only way to eliminate whatever ignorance you have to be bias to begin with.
Yes sometimes there may be truth to them, but like one out of 3 people from that group does it. Most people do not challenge themselves to look beyond what is obvious. Being bias is judging groups of people, without learning more about them. I encourage everyone to read more about the groups of people you have bias against. I recommend "Race Manners" by Bruce A. Jacobs.

The only ones in the world who do not have a bias are newborn babies. EVERYONE else has a bias, whether they choose to share it or not. We are brought up with morals & standards taught to us, and will therefore affect our judgements on the world around us.
