The quick answer is no. However, there is a definite perceptual difference that creates this impression for much of the public.

Republicans currently tend to be a more top down organized group. Leaders decide what is to be done and the masses respond by doing what the leaders have decided. This can be seen in their procedure for selecting candidates for president. Primaries are fewer in the Republican nominating process. This gives many the impression that the Republicans are decisive and efficient. This authoritarian "tell me what to do and I'll follow" form of behavior also shows in the fact that many Republicans are members of more traditional authoritarian religious denominations. (e.g. Catholic, Pentecostal, Baptist, etc.)

Democrats on the other hand operate on a more grassroots driven form of organization. To them getting input from everyone is important. You will often see several candidates for President and more consistent primaries in Democratic nominating processes. This gives the public, particularly Republicans, a feeling that the Democrats are weak and indecisive. The Democrats tendency toward grassroots organizing finds many of them members of the more liberal religions (e.g. Unitarian Universalist, United Church of Christ, Congregational, etc.)

The problem here is one of paradox. Republicans who normally tend toward authoritarian methods, don't understand the need for member input and consider Democrats indecisive. Democrats who favor grassroots based organization see the Republicans as anti democracy and overbearing. Neither is actually weak, but each lacks, to a great degree, the ability to understand the perspective of the other.

Yes it is right now, and what is really funny is the Dems of old would Kick these Dems out for being like Republicans. The last tough confident and intelligent Democrats are dead, FDR, JFK.
These were to guys you didn't mess with. The world found from FDR in a big way. I wish there were guys like this in the Democratic party today but there aren't. The republican are closer to the old Democratic Party right now, than the Democrats of today are. But not quite as good as the old Dems.

If people/population=power then they're both fairly matched. Though the republicans have a firm stand on who they are. They say, "WE ARE REPUBLICANS"... while the democrats say, "WE AREN'T THE OTHER GUYS".

The democrat party is in need of a good leader right now to show that the democrat party is serious and can win. They have the potential to do great things, just like the republican party, but they need to really get working. Reform within the party would be the best thing. There are books, written by democrats on this issue too.

It's not that one's strong and one's weak, it's just they both have different ideas. Republicans push past failures of democrats to the people via television... and it works. Democrats tend to sit back and let their enemy destroy themselves.

Frankly I'm biased towards democrats but they have to get moving if they want to win in 2008

I think you will find a lot of momma's boys in both parties. They are politicians so they rarely "walk the talk." Family values? Remember Newt Ginrich and the contract with America. That guy left his wife when she was ill. That is weak. When you use words to manipulate voters to think that you are some kind of tough guy but you really are so incompetent that you shoot somebody in the face...come on! Weak also means not truly acting on Principal and being strong enough to admit when you are really wrong.

Republicans have definite values and goals for the future.
They stand up for what they believe in and have solutions to fix problems.

Democrats are whiny fringe people who govern by polls - tell the people what they want to hear. Democrats also bad mouth other parties, and when called out on their handling of issues, just accuse the Republicans of doing what the Democrats were CAUGHT doing---therefore TRYING to deflect attention from themselves yet again.

a matter of opinion ..... as far as the makeup of the united states government more republicans hold seats than democrats, therefore one could say they are weak in getting bills passed and investigations done.

There is considerable evidence that Republicans do all in their power to feather their nests every time they are in office..they lie, put spin on the most obvious. blame everyone for everything, and the ignorant American public swallows the stories hook, line, and sinker. Bush has had to lie about everything. He has the most corrupt office ever known to America, and yet, he thinks it is funny, jokes about his war in Iraq..the same war that our men die in daily....Haliburton is the only winner here, a company that the Vice President is closely involved with...money, money, money, and always on the backs of the poorest in America..those who can least defend themselves. Don' t get me wrong, the Democrats are foundering in a sea of indecision, but the Republicans are down right evil, NO conscience what so ever. Bush is the biggest, boldest liar we have ever had in office, ..Nixon pales in comparison.

Not necessarily. Can't generalize like that. I don't think most democrats are "weak", nor or all Republicans strong.
