Well I'm a little rusty, but we talked about this in my college anthropology class...
First we have to think about things we need to survive...
air, water, food, shelter
Now looking at your question your teacher wants us to look at culture and how people have developed ways to meet their needs for survival.
Lets imagine a tribe, how will they develop a system to get their water if it two miles away? Maybe a lot of people will carry buckets... maybe the children will go every other day... what is a system...
For food, the men may be responsible for going hunting everyday or every other day...

try to begin by referencing the term socialism then expand to cultural behaviors that led to the cycle whereby actions and words have everything to do with their survival instincts
