Yes when they reach sixteen or just before they recieve their national insurance number. If working they have to pay tax. No law on working 2pm until 10pm however there is a max for working so many days per week and have to have a break at some point.

If they've left school then yes they can work 2-10pm.
Anyone with a national insurance number who earns more than the threshold will pay tax and national insurance.
The business link website has lots of information including the minimum wages for 16 year olds which is currently £3.00 per hour but increases £3.30 per hour from the 1st of October 2006.

As far as I know, yes if they are working full-time they pay taxes and they are allowed to work until 10pm. Unless the FLSA laws i have changed in the past few years. I started working when I was 15, and maybe laws just weren't enforced then but I worked ALOT of hours and paid taxes, Soc Security etc.

if you are working in full time employment and earning over about £4000 a year you will be paying tax, and you are allowed to work from 2 to 10pm, but under 18's are not allowed to work after 10pm at night and they must have a 12 hour break between shifts.

UK answer:
2-10 is an 8 hour shift, so is perfectly legal. You must be given a 30 minute break halfway through for meals.
Anyone over 16 must pay tax if they earn over £96.96 per week.

Anyone working a job has to pay tax. I believe 16 year olds can work till 10 but not past 11. I think when they are 15, they can't work past 8. You may want to check out your states labor laws.
