I have a (just) chocolate bar wrapped in foil w/ a paper wrapper around the foil. It is a limited run and I want to keep it as a souvenir for *hopefully* many years. I don't expect it to stay edible, just keep it from decomposing or melting. But if there WAS a way to keep it edible, I'd prefer that method.

Well the good news is that chocolate has lots os sugar which is a preserver. So, naturally candy lasts for awhile. However, the bad news, like you pointed out, is that things like heat can affect your souvenir. I think what I would do, is buy a vacuum pack and put it in one of the bags, and just suck out all the air. That way no air can get to it. However, as far as heat and other things that you have to be aware of, I don't know what to tell you. Store it in a cool place that is safe from heat and water. Good luck!

How special. I would put in a vacuum packed bag inside a cardboard box and wrap the candy bar in a thick cloth before putting it in the bag and keep it in the freezer.
