When I go visit my old hood my stomach drops. I get all anxious. When I see the people walking in the streets like the sidewalk is out of order I get very angry. I know I should hate white people because as a black man I should, but all of the horrible sht I have expperienced has come at the hands of my own people. My friends who were murdered, my people did it. My family that have died as the result of drugs, my people sold them the drugs. On the other hand. White folks have given me jobs money and opprotunities. My mind is being tormented by this dilema. I drive to white malls to shop cuz I do not want trouble, I avoid my people, am I racist?

No. You're not just avoiding "your people". You are avoiding the type of people who are raised in a dangerous environment where they do what they want. Their parents don't give a damn what they do and they even abuse then some of the time. And instead of fighting that and getting away from that they have choose to go with it. Therefor have become dangerous too. This can be any race, not just "your people".
On the other hand, there are tons of CEOs and Employers who are people of color. They are not just white. These people are people who were either raised in a safe environment where they were taught morals and ethics, or they got out of a bad environment and choose the right path. There are plenty of white people who are not so good people also.
You are not avoiding "your people". You are avoiding danger. Think rationally.
On the other hand, it is racist to hate a certain race just because or your race. Would you think I was racist if I said, "I hate black people because I am white"? It's the same.

1.) You should be proud of your heritage.
2.) "white malls" there is no such thing.
3.) Blame the people who did those things DONT blame it on a group of people based upon their race.
4.) Yes if you hate people based upon their race you are a racist.

Not all black people are drug dealers and such. So you should NOT be trying to judge others for some actions. You should avoid the people that are drug dealers and such if they offend you and such. Drug dealers and criminals come in all colors so why dont you stay away from the white ones too? For you to cast out all black people like that would make you a racist.

To be honest yes you are a racist,because you are basically saying your own people are degenerates you must avoid whom only harm you and cause you trouble,while the white man has given you all the opportunities and money.You need to stop judging everyone.And why should you hate white people?now finally truth is revealed,I always wonder if black people really hate all white people and now I see a prime example of black racism.You need to stop judging people and change your perception,your an African American and should be proud of your heritage,hold your head up with pride and forgive those whom hurt you.

You are not a racist. You have looked past the political correctness scam and are seeing things in a realistic light. You have also been shown that if you apply yourself, you can achieve great things. If you stay in the hood, you are destined to fail. White people aren't holding you back like people such as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton you like you to believe. I encourage you to try even harder, you will be pleasantly surprised at the results.

You are using your eyes.; The person most likely to murder a black person is a black person, and your risk is 1 in 20. There are a minority of black people who make life miserable for the rest of us at times. Their antisocial acts cannot be denied. Chris Rock's comedic sketch on this topic (the civil war between black people and n*****s) is a jewel.
It is these folks' behavior that Bill Cosby is commenting on.
I don't think you are racist. You just see certain people for who they actually are as opposed to how you wish they were. In other words, you have ditched your rose-colored glasses about certain "brothas and sistas."

Interesting statement. It happens here with our Indigenous people as well and its extremely sad to see. There is no doubt in my mind that here in Australia our Indigenous people have in the past not had equal access to essential services like education, health and personal and family assistance. Since their culture is also different they have trouble understanding our the European form of education. I think we need to relearn our concept of how we value others and ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to acheive something with there life. In your case maybe you can make a difference because you understand the culture better.

And as I'm sure you well know, not every black person is going to sell drugs or join a gang. There's nothing wrong with being angry at people who have done wrong against you, or even a neighborhood you've had this experience in; in fact, it's perfectly normal. Just don't let it blind you to everyone.

since you feel your own race is a failure it is up to you to make a change. since the white man has done so much for you that does not mean that you should give up on the others . you should share. GOD did not bless you with all these thing's for you to keep them to yourself maybe you could start a black youth game room where the black children can play game's, study, or maybe you should open a pantry for the forunate that are trying to do for them selves not all are bad people you know? there is bad and good in all races. do something just don't down people that are not as blessed as you
