I'm English. I have found American people to be positive, open and friendly, with a good work ethic and can-do outlook. These are probably the intelligent ones. Americans can also be loud, obnoxious and self-absorbed; these are probably the thickies. I am not anti-American, but their media does not do the country any favours. If people across the world judge Americans by their leader and their media, then they are as daft as Fox News. I now find the George Bush jokes to be juvenile and boring (although they were amusing at first).
I like aspects of American culture, the 'frontier spirit', how we can look to America to see future trends, some of the music and creativity that you would expect to find in a country so big.
But Canada is WAY better than the US. 3 words. Trailer Park Boys.

The Americans I have met have, for the most part, been very nice, friendly and kind people. They were however incredibly ignorant of other cultures. The education level in the United States is worrying, considering it is a first world country. In my opinion, it may lead to it's slow demise.

i think of too much patriotisim as citizens blindly follow what was laid down as rules or handed down to them by ideas of forefathers and politicians
americans like to stick their nose in other people's business where they don't belong and they call it protecting the good will of the entire world but other countries don't feel it that way but they're too powerless to speak up

I think we're a diverse group of people from different nations and cultures. You really can't categorize our people or lump them into one group. As in any country there are good people and bad people. My only complaints are not enough of us vote, read the newspapers, and too many of us are obese.
